Dyeing Techniques
Shibori:
Japanese process of compressing cloth into folds or wrinkles before dying.
Discharging:
Chemical removal of color, with color susequently added with dyes and paint.
Immersion:
Conventional means of dyeing by submersion in a dye bath.
Screen Printing:
The
use of dye as an emulsion on a screen.
The dye is pushed through the screen with a squeegee to produce the desired
design.
Stamping:
A design is carved out of rubber or other medium and used to transfer dye to the cloth.
Drawing:
Freehand painting with brushes of other tools directly onto the cloth.
